Currently, international cooperation is perhaps the most important issue for the regions of Ukraine.

This is the opinion of Vitaliy Bunechko, the head of Zhytomyr RMA.

According to him, now the heads of the regions understand this need, so they are doing everything possible to establish connections and search for partnerships.

“It must be said that interaction with international partners continues, we will continue to establish horizontal contacts and cooperate with our international partners,” Vitaliy Bunechko emphasized.

The leader of Zhytomyr region also talked about the region’s experience in working with international partners. Currently, the region already has strong ties with Estonia and Portugal.

“We have been interacting with Estonia since the beginning of the war. Last year, just before the Summit, we were preparing for the opening of a jointly rebuilt kindergarten. And already this year, we opened a bridge that was destroyed by rioters in the city of Malyn. We also developed a number of projects, which we will further implement together with Estonia. We managed to involve Portugal in cooperation. We are now finishing the development of the reconstruction project of Lyceum No. 25 in Zhytomyr,” said the head of the Zhytomyr RMA.

The region’s ties with Poland are also being established. In particular, at the beginning of May, RMA representatives took part in the investment forum held in Katowice. There they established new contacts.

In addition, Zhytomyr region works with international organizations. For example, cooperation with UNICEF continues in the region, and the State Bank of Germany plans to start a project under which six communities in the region will receive an additional 256 million hryvnias in funding.

Vitaliy Bunechko noted that in order to interact with international partners, it is necessary to communicate at different levels.

“To establish international communication, it is extremely important to communicate not only at official sites, but also, so to speak, during non-working hours. In informal communication, share information for closer cooperation from community to community. Our participating community leaders communicate with partners, share their problems and, accordingly, develop future projects,” he explained.
