The site of the Second International Summit of Cities and Regions is important for Ukrainian communities. After all, on it you can communicate with international partners and thank them for the help provided.
This is the opinion of Viktor Mykyta, head of Transcarpathian Regional Military Administration, head of the Chamber of Regions of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine.
“Such Summits show both our work and cooperation with partners who help our country fight against the aggressor. Accordingly, it is very important to have such a platform for communications, where you can show all the horrors of the war that are happening in Ukraine, and also thank our partners for the help they have been providing us since the first days of the full-scale invasion. And also – to share experience. Therefore, this event is very important,” the head of Transcarpathia emphasized.
Viktor Mykyta also noted that during the Second Summit, issues related to humanitarian aid, restoration and rehabilitation of the military, economic development, cooperation, receiving aid, community development were discussed.
In addition, the head of Transcarpathian RMA spoke about the experience of the region in cooperation with international partners. According to him, it began even before the full-scale invasion and continues to this day.
“Transcarpathia has a strong experience of cooperation, because it borders four EU countries – Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. Communities have historical ties to these countries. Therefore, this cooperation has been going on for centuries. As for modern cooperation, it is, first of all, about economic and infrastructural development. We have various projects financed by the European Union. There are also territorial associations of Transcarpathia. Our region was one of the first to start creating them at the regional level. Thanks to such associations, we can receive financing beyond the boundaries of projects,” Viktor Mykyta emphasized.
There is also cooperation between businesses in the region. According to Viktor Mykyta, relocated enterprises contribute to this, in particular.
“Many businesses relocated to Transcarpathia during the war – more than 400 enterprises from the east and south of Ukraine. It was important to create conditions for communication and business contacts in adjacent regions of neighboring countries. We get experience from it. Because when the company, which moved, set up production in a few months and started exporting products, it was very prompt work that had not happened before in Ukrainian business. And for European business, this is generally know-how. We have good indicators and this will in the future provide an opportunity to support the Armed Forces and rebuild our country after the war,” said the head of the Transcarpathia RMA.
