The site of the Second International Summit of Cities and Regions enables the communities of Ukraine and the whole world to establish closer friendly and partnership relations.

This is the opinion of the head of Ivano-Frankivsk RMA Svitlana Onyshchuk.

“The Second International Summit gives us an opportunity to make more friends, learn about each other, our strengths, and demonstrate our capabilities and strengths. Because even though there is a full-scale war in our country, we live, work, develop, improve. And we are also reliable partners for our foreign colleagues and friends,” she said.

At the same time, according to Svitlana Onyshchuk, the Summit provides new opportunities for the regions of Ukraine precisely in the context of reconstruction and functioning during the war. For example, as of February 24, 2022, 480 communal institutions of the social sphere were restored in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, assistance is provided to internally displaced persons, and support for relocated businesses is provided.

“There are 62 territorial communities in Prykarpattia. And they were always looking for connections, cooperation and acquaintance with the communities of other countries. Now, during the war, representatives of local self-government bodies jointly implement various initiatives and projects in their communities. Ivano-Frankivsk Region has received a large number of relocated businesses. 80 large enterprises have now adapted in a new way and started their activities in Prykarpattia. 150,000 people came to our region. internally displaced persons. We put the main emphasis on the adoption of socially vulnerable population groups. Therefore, the support of donors and colleagues from foreign countries is extremely important and necessary,” said the head of Ivano-Frankivsk RMA.

Currently, Ivano-Frankivsk region continues to look for new partners. In particular, two cooperation agreements were signed during the Second International Summit of Cities and Regions. Cooperation with those countries that previously helped Prykarpattia also continues.

“We have a very good cooperation with the Pilsen region in the Czech Republic. We met at the beginning of the full-scale invasion and signed memorandums of cooperation. We also have excellent cooperation with representatives of Japan. They help to improve and strengthen rehabilitation. Currently, there are 21 rehabilitation centers in Ivano-Frankivsk region. We actively worked so that we had them of high quality and could provide the best rehabilitation medical services for servicemen and war veterans. It was the cooperation with international institutions that helped us to make repairs, to attract state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment, which is used and tested in our rehabilitation centers,” emphasized Svitlana Onyshchuk.
