On Thursday, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak held a meeting of the Presidium of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the Head of State, at which the agenda for the next session of the Congress was approved.

“I am glad to note that we are entering the planned format of work. We have accumulated many urgent questions. Perhaps we will need to meet more often than once a month, as stipulated by the provisions of our Congress, in order to find ways to solve them,” Andriy Yermak said at the beginning of the meeting.

The head of the President’s Office noted that, according to the Regulations on the Congress, the position of the executive secretary of the presidium of the Congress of local and regional authorities is assigned to the deputy head of the President’s Office, who is responsible for the direction of regional policy. Oleksiy Kuleba was recently appointed as such deputy.

Members of the Presidium of the Congress unanimously supported the approval of Oleksiy Kuleba as the executive secretary of the Presidium of the Congress.

In addition, the agenda of the meeting of the Congress of local and regional authorities, which will take place in the near future, was approved.

The Presidium of the Congress entrusted the performance of the duties of the head of the Chamber of Regions of the Congress to the deputy head of this Chamber, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, Anna Zamazeeva. She is tasked with expeditiously holding meetings of the Congress Chamber of Regions and electing its leadership so that the Presidium of the Congress can effectively perform its functions.

The head of the President’s Office emphasized that the Congress was created as a unique platform where every representative of the regional government can raise and discuss issues important to the community and get answers. The Congress is designed to coordinate the activities of all government bodies in Ukraine.

“This is especially true in times of war, when we are moving towards our victory. And we need to think already today how we will restore our country, return our people to a normal life and, of course, compensate for everything that the Russian invaders did on our land,” Andriy Yermak said.

At the end of the meeting, the head of the Office of the Head of the State suggested that at the next meeting of the presidium of the Congress of local and regional authorities, the issue of social adaptation of servicemen dismissed from the ranks of the units of the defense forces of Ukraine due to health should be considered.

“Today it is a question of justice for our heroes, soldiers who defend Ukraine. This issue is one of the most important and most prioritized for the state and, accordingly, for our Congress,” Andriy Yermak emphasized.
