Thanks to the Congress of local and regional authorities under the President of Ukraine, it was possible to solve a number of urgent problems in the Kherson region. Among them are the demining of territories, the reconstruction of destroyed housing and infrastructure in communities, as well as the elimination of the consequences of the terrorist attack at the Kakhovska HPP.
Oleksandr Prokudin, head of Kherson Region Military Administration, reported this.
“The Congress is important in general, and we felt it back in August 2023, when the meeting took place in the Kherson region. Then we asked questions and they were resolved. The first is demining. Currently, we have 1,100 deminers working, 245,000 hectares of territory have already been demined. Now it is clear that in two years we will demine our territory,” Oleksandr Prokudin told.
Also, according to the head of the Kherson RMA, the presidential project “Side by Side” is important for the region. Within its framework, more than 1,120 houses in 26 settlements of the Kherson region have already been restored.
Representatives of 15 regions of Ukraine are involved in the reconstruction process of the Kherson region. The “Side by Side” program will continue, its second stage is already being planned. In total, 102 settlements will be covered, where 3.5 thousand buildings will be restored.
Another urgent problem for the Kherson Region is the liquidation of the consequences of the terrorist attack at the Kakhovska HPP. Oleksandr Prokudin notes that the region suffered the most as a result of the dam being blown up. 13 regions, 2,500 workers and hundreds of pieces of equipment joined the elimination of the tragedy.
“At the session of Congress, I was a speaker on the Security Policy panel. And for the Kherson region, this is the most important panel now. Because from the beginning of 2024 until mid-April, we were shelled 12,000 times, 66,000 shells fell on our land. That is, people hear explosions every 2 minutes. Safety is a priority for our region now. We will raise issues that concern us and, hopefully, they will be resolved. I am sure that both government officials and other regions will help us,” Oleksandr Prokudin reported.
