Oleksandr Markushyn, the mayor of Irpin, in the Kyiv region, named the key issues for his city.

“The first priority is to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The second issue for our community is reconstruction. Because our community is, unfortunately, the most destroyed in the Kyiv region,” he emphasized.

According to Oleksandr Markushyn, the Congress of local and regional authorities under the President of Ukraine helps to a large extent in solving urgent issues.

“We have the opportunity to talk with the President of Ukraine and discuss important issues with the ministers. Not only that, there are solutions to these issues. I will give an example. At the last Congress, the issue of reconstruction was raised – the reimbursement of funds on the certificates is Restoration. High-rise buildings were divided according to the years of construction – before 1991 and after. In the Irpin community, 95% of the destroyed houses were built before 1991. And people received 10 thousand hryvnias less compensation. But after the Congress, we discussed this issue and the Government made appropriate changes to the resolution. The issue was resolved for tens of thousands of Ukrainians across the country,” Oleksandr Markushyn emphasized.

The mayor of Irpіn also spoke about plans for activities in the post-war period. He noted that considerable attention will be paid to the rehabilitation of servicemen.

“Currently, almost 80 of our heroes have amputations in Irpіn. And this number only increases every day. Of course, rehabilitation will be the most important direction after the war. Because the boys gave up part of their health for us,” said Oleksandr Markushyn.
