The recovery process is already underway in Ukraine, communities are making all possible efforts for this. And international partners should help in this process.

This is the opinion of Brian Kemple, head of the USAID “DOBRE” program.

“We see that a certain recovery is already taking place. I think that our communities are doing everything in their power. We just have to help them. I am glad that a lot has already been done, but there is still a lot to be done. Of course, we provide assistance to communities in many different areas, we help them develop. These are financial management, strategic planning, crisis management, improvement of service delivery, local economic development, social cohesion,” emphasized Brian Kemple.

The head of the “DOBRE” program also noted that the project cooperated with communities before the war and continues to do so now. In particular, currently approximately 100 Ukrainian communities have joined the “DOBRE” program, which helps them improve management processes, fight crisis phenomena, recover and develop.

“DOBRE works with about 100 communities. There are a total of 1,469 communities in Ukraine. We welcome any additional help, as long as it is well thought out. Because, for example, at “DOBRE” we cannot satisfy all the needs of communities. There are a lot of them. Therefore, it is very good that more and more donor organizations are joining, understand the situation in Ukraine and provide assistance. So, the recovery continues. It’s great,” emphasized Brian Kemple.

He also drew attention to the importance of the Second International Summit of Cities and Regions, as it relates to aid and support to Ukraine during the war. And it helps to combine the efforts of a number of partners and donors.

In addition, Brian Kemple noted the resilience of Ukrainian communities and their residents. Because, despite the existing problems, they continue to move forward and make efforts to restore.
