Not all schools in Sumy Oblast have yet been provided with the necessary shelters. Therefore, this issue remains relevant for the region.

This was announced by the head of the Sumy City Military Administration, Oleksiy Drozdenko.

“The most fundamental issue is to continue providing quality education to the community. In particular, in the 30-kilometre zone and the city of Sumy, the maximum number of schools are operating offline, as far as possible. Of course, there are still not enough shelters for schoolchildren. But schools are creating duty schedules, for example, week in and week out. The quality of education is above all”, he said.

The head of the military administration of Sumy also stressed that the state is helping in this matter. In particular, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine provided a subvention to build new shelters for students. However, in order to cover all schoolchildren, the system will need to continue to work through 2024.

Oleksiy Drozdenko also noted that Congress is an important element of cooperation between state and local authorities.
