The priority issues for the Kharkiv region are energy and the restoration of critical infrastructure.
This was stated by Yevhen Ivanov, deputy head of the Kharkiv RMA, during the Second International Summit of Cities and Regions.
“The number one issue for Kharkiv region is, of course, energy and critical infrastructure. This is, in fact, the upcoming heating season for which we should approach prepared. It is necessary that people living in our region receive both heating and light. Of course, these issues are in line with the absolute importance of restoring the housing sector,” he emphasized.
The deputy head of the Kharkiv RMA also drew attention to the fact that the region is one of the most affected by hostilities. In particular, as of the beginning of May 2024, there are 50 thousand objects of residential and non-residential funds in Kharkiv region that are damaged or destroyed.
“Of course, we do not wait and rebuild everything at our own expense, with the funds of the state budget. But significant help is also provided by international partners. Thanks to them, a large number of objects of the housing stock and critical infrastructure are restored. We have meetings, mostly online or by phone. But it is very important to communicate on the spot so that foreigners see the situation as it is,” said Yevhen Ivanov.
Also, the deputy head of Kharkiv RMA emphasized the importance of the Summit in the process of cooperation with international partners. According to Yevhen Ivanov, at the event you can not only talk with representatives of the world community, but also conclude agreements and memoranda.
“Extremely important event. It is focused on cooperation at the level of regions, communities and cities of our country with partners. And at this Summit, as last year, a number of important twinning agreements on cooperation between cities and regions of Ukraine and Europe were signed. This is an extremely important component of general international cooperation. It would be good to hold the Summit more often than once a year, because it is necessary to attract more foreigners precisely at the level of cities and regions,” Yevhen Ivanov believes.
